Summary of Position Napier Technologies Limited is looking for a Junior Systems Administrator to help manage and maintain its internal development and test infrastructure (hosted in private cloud) and to assist in managing live client environments (hosted in Azure public cloud) The role will report directly to the Head of IT Operations. The role will include configuration of operating systems, open source components, configuration of monitoring and alerting and contribution to DevOps development of Ansible and Terraform roles Responsibilities Infrastructure Provisioning Hands-on management of infrastructure (both private cloud resources as well as physical resources such as laptops and workstations.) This will include configuring networking for both virtual and physical environments, the creation of virtual machines and installation of host operating systems and the configuration of office equipment/firewalls. Incident Triage and Response Responding to incidents and problems, to internal and external stakeholders, third party suppliers and users within SLA's Management of support tickets and drive remedial work to mitigate an incident Incident triaging with ability to multi-task and prioritise Investigation and resolution of outages or abnormal system behaviours Escalate incidents based on standard operating procedures, follow up and escalate until resolution Monitoring and Alerting Management of alerts raised by infrastructure monitoring. Performing daily health checks (Network, servers & cloud platforms) Assist in the analysis and reporting of alerts raised by infrastructure elements Requirements Qualifications and Training Experience 3+ years of experience in an IT operational position (ideally based in financial services industry) 3+ years of Linux administration, networking Qualities and Attitude An adaptable problem solver, the role includes managing many different systems and technologies in a complex landscape and the candidate must be able to be able to work out how to identity problems and solutions for technologies they may not be familiar with. They must be comfortable with low level tasks such as the creation of virtual machines, configuring IP tables and managing firewalls.
