Overview
Job Description
Oldham Care Organisation hosts the Pennine Gastroenterology team which provides gastroenterology and endoscopy services across 4 hospital sites (Rochdale Infirmary, Fairfield General Hospital, North Manchester General Hospital and Royal Oldham Hospital) An enthusiastic and highly motivated clinician is invited to submit an application for a new Consultant Gastroenterologist post in our expanding team. This is an exciting time to work within our directorate. Our referral base continues to grow and we are extending our existing endoscopy units to provide the required capacity. In addition to being a Bowel Cancer Screening Centre, we have implemented our Bowel Scope Screening Programme. The research output from the gastroenterology directorate has been internationally recognised, including an extensive inflammatory bowel disease research portfolio. You will be one of 16 consultants, and will be welcomed into our dynamic and busy department. This is an ideal time to join the team and have the opportunity to influence the development of services during this period of significant change. Interest in developing sub specialist interests eg Hepatology or Nutrition will be welcomed and supported. We have four endoscopy units across four sites making this one of the largest endoscopy services in the country and our non-elective inpatient services have been centralised onto the Royal Oldham Site. Our non elective services will be transitioning to a 7 day service. You will participate in a hot week rota to provide a timely and responsive service to our patients as well as an out of hours GI bleed rota. Potential applicants must be on the Specialist Register or within six months of achieving CCT (or equivalent) at the date of interview All communication to applicants will be via the email address provided on your application form and all further correspondence will be through email, therefore please ensure that you regularly check your emails after the closing date for the post.
