Oversees assembly, disassembly or overhaul. Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment. Directs troubleshooting of complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components. Oversees validation/verification testing of systems and components. Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results). Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements. Leads and supervises others to perform tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle (e.g. jacking, towing, system operations). Provides training and mentors others. Relocation: No relocation available Export Control Requirement: Safety Sensitive: This is not a safety sensitive position Contingent Upon Award Program This position is not contingent upon program award Job Description Qualifications: In March 2019, the UK Mod signed a $1.98Bn (1.51Bn) deal with Boeing to purchase five E-7 Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning (AEW) Mk1 aircraft. The E-7 fleet will replace the current E-3D Sentry aircraft and ensure the continued delivery of the UK's Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) capability. The aircraft will enter service in 2023 and will be operated from RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire. Being based upon the 737, the platform offers significant savings in training and maintenance, as well as extremely high reliability The Wedgetail AEW Mk1 is based upon the highly successful 737-700 IGW NG aircraft, and requires a significant modification programme to convert it into a high-end mission system capability. To continue its commitment to the United Kingdom prosperity, Boeing is undertaking the modification in Birmingham from Q4 2020 by a workforce comprised of both Boeing and subcontracted engineers and maintenance technicians in a suitably approved and equipped Maintenance Repair Organisation (MRO). Boeing are looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals to join the small Boeing team to support the Production Supplier on-site in Birmingham. The modification programme is expected to take up to 5 years to complete before the aircraft transition to the Main Operating at RAF Waddington This position is a Team Leader role. The CAMS Support Lead will lead a small team of aircraft technicians supporting at the UK E7 production working alongside the production supplier. Working on a wider BDUK support team working directly for the E7 Production Operations Manager The CAMS support team will be dedicated to support the measurement and inspection requirement for the UK E7 Wedgetail aircraft production at Birmingham airport using computer aided laser metrology techniques The Lead will plan the mobilization, recruitment of the team including identifying tooling and training requirements. The lead will act as the project manager planning the day to day CAMS tasks during the 5 aircraft modifications between 2020 and 2025 working between the project team and production supplier managing the delivery of .computer aided laser metrology techniques. We are very keen to hear from aircraft Technicians with experience of certifying, supervising and performing aircraft maintenance from both the military and commercial aerospace environment with experience specifically in CAMS techniques and use. The successful candidates will be knowledgeable in all aspects of aircraft maintenance, modification and repair to include skill and experience in both mechanical and avionic disciplines.
