Job Description

Purpose of the Position We have an opportunity for a Bulk Driver based at at our BOC site at Motherwell. Bulk drivers are fully flexible employees who, if when trained, will be asked to carry out any of the following tasks as part of their normal duties: Principal Responsibilities Deliver product to internal and external customers. Fill and analyse own tankers and high pressure trailers. Carry out minor repairs to their vehicles using minimal tools such as screwdrivers and spanners. Minor repairs are defined as repairs which can be carried out with a minimum of skill and knowledge. Examples of such repairs are; replacement of bulbs and lenses; replacing fuses and resetting electrical trips on vehicles; replacing cryogenic hose seals; tightening gland nuts on cryogenic valves fitted to road tankers and cleaning and drying of plugs and sockets between motive units and trailers. Couple and uncouple motive units/towing vehicles from tankers/trailers. Refuel their vehicles. As an integral part of the Company's service effort drivers may, from time to time, be requested to take part in campaigns. In order to maximise the use of the Company's resources at each branch location all drivers should be fully flexible, which may include working away at other branches for short periods. Drivers will wear the BOC Gases driver's uniform at all times whilst on duty and protective clothing when required to meet the needs of the job as laid down in the protective clothing schedule. Drivers will when necessary, following consultation and agreement, co-operate fully in the introduction of new technology.
