Job Description
We're looking for adult or child trained nurses to join our team at Southampton Children's Hospital, part of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). We're a major centre for specialist paediatric services across the south of England, providing acute specialist care to our local population as well as a wider geographical area that includes the Isle of Wight and Channel Islands. Southampton Children's Hospital is the only paediatric trauma unit outside of London and across the south of England. In addition to the teams outlined below, we also have a children's emergency and trauma department (which you can read about in the emergency medicine advert) and neonatal services (which you can read about in the women's and newborn advert). ABOUT OUR CARE GROUP Southampton Children's Hospital is part of the Wessex Network, working in collaboration with Trusts within the network to provide the best treatment for all patients including the provision of retrieval services via specialist teams. Services within the Children's Hospital include: - neurosciences - neurosurgery and neurology - general surgery - gastroenterology, nephrology, urology, ENT - haemodialysis - orthopaedic - general, complex spinal and trauma - general medical - respiratory, specialist sleep services - oncology - cardiac services - mental health services - high dependency unit - paediatric intensive care unit In addition, there are clinical nurse specialists providing support with a number of conditions such as allergy, rheumatology, diabetes, neuro conditions and many more. ABOUT OUR TEAMS Our teams are: - G2 neuro - G3 orthopaedics - G4 surgery, urology and nephrology (G4SUN) - Piam Brown - oncology - John Atwell day ward - Paediatric medical unit (PMU) - Paediatric high dependency unit (PHDU) - Paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) - E1 - paediatric cardiology - Bursledon House - Children's outpatients We are also recruiting child nurses for the children's emergency and trauma department. WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU All wards within Southampton Children's Hospital have the support of clinical facilitators to help with further education and learning as well as mentorship and supervision support. There are fantastic training and development opportunities, giving you the best possible platform to achieve the career you want. The Children's Hospital provides a seven day outreach service, supporting the wards as required. Play specialists work with each ward and outpatient setting supporting children and young people through their journey within the Children's Hospital. We have a dedicated Safeguarding Children's team who support with the management of complex cases and a team of mental health nurses to support the management of children and young people with mental health needs.
