Job Description

Were looking for a Strategy Principal, with an established career in design and a strong understanding of business, to join IF that can develop products, services and propositions that create trust in technology and show care for collective needs by demonstrating new, responsible ways personal data can be collected, used and shared. Responsible for project leadership, youll lead cross-functional teams to solve difficult design problems with emerging technologies for new and existing clients including national public sector bodies, start ups, and established Big Tech. Youll work on things that really matter like data rights, the future of responsible AI, and a new design framework that goes beyond individual needs to design for collective needs as well (see societycentered.design). You are someone who is highly experienced in leading senior client relationships and forming high-performing teams with a focus on generating real value and tangible outcomes for organisations. You instinctively know how to bring people onboard with ideas, clients and teams alike, and distill complex concepts into a clear and simple vision. You are comfortable leading highly creative teams through ambiguous briefs and in emergent spaces. You're intuitive to the support and/or direction each member might need and adjust your approach to be inclusive to all. As a project leader, youll help identify and develop new commercial opportunities within our client projects and also IFs wider proposition to achieve long lasting strategic impact. What you will do: * Constantly evolve and push boundaries in developing the IF brand, SCD framework, positioning the business as a leader in innovation and design. * Provide inspiration, mentorship and thought leadership to IFs project team, enabling them to develop field-building work. * Work with the team to develop assets that communicate the thinking - moving from analysis of the problem to design intent and solution using sketches, diagrams, user journeys, personas and writing across different mediums. * Bring clients into the process to ensure that they feel a strong sense of shared success. * Identify and develop new commercial opportunities within our client projects and IFs wider proposition. * Partner with our commercial team to co-write briefs with clients, draft proposals, create pitches and help progress our commercial modelling toolkit and capabilities. * Empathise with clients commercial goals and understand how the work aligns within the clients strategy and brand. * Ensure the smooth delivery of projects by ensuring the final deliverables answer the clients needs. * Cultivate and maintain positive client relationships while effectively managing client expectations. * Take a long term position on the work to create relationships and outcomes of lasting value. Requirements * Youve led critically and commercially successful projects across the full breadth of product and service and from opportunity discovery through to product build and market launch. * You favour a servant leader approach to people management and intuitively know when to coach, direct and mentor individuals and teams * You enjoy discovering new ways of approaching (and solving) complex socio-technical problems and concepts, challenging established thinking to solve problems in a way not possible before * You have strong storytelling skills. Succinctly able to deliver a clear, persuasive narrative through engaging content; in particular written but also visual and verbal. * You thrive within projects that start with a high degree of uncertainty/ ambiguity and is able to create clarity * You enjoy and have success in designing, planning and participating in activities that achieve desired outcomes with both cross functional teams and clients alike. * You have a proven track record of successful collaboration with multiple disciplines on projects and practices * You enjoy leading the testing process and has worked in rapid prototyping and iterative environments (in paper or digitally) * You are known for delivering tangible commercial value within projects and wider company proposition development * You have clear points of view on design and advanced technology and are comfortable sharing them; you also seek out the perspective others to inform good decision making. * You advocate the voice of underrepresented groups and foster inclusivity in all aspects of your work About IF Founded in 2015 by Sarah Gold, IF are global thought leaders on building responsible advanced technology.
