Job Description
Group Details: We are seeking an exceptionally bright, highly motivated Infrastructure Engineer. Working within an Infrastructure team that is responsible for the maintenance and support of critical hosting architecture. You will ideally have come from a server, storage and virtualised environment, with proven experience of migration to cloud providers (AWS & Azure). You'll focus on the integration of containerisation, automation and cloud technologies within the environment You are a natural problem solver capable of visualizing on premise and cloud based hosting systems in order to troubleshoot, rectify & escalate issues. You will need a solid understanding of network principles. Job Responsibilities: * Installation, configuration and maintenance of hosting systems including servers, storage, VMware and operating systems * Monitoring the hosting and application environment. * Fix issues and coordinate fixes, where necessary. * Understand deployment scripts, debug where required, and perform log analysis. * Help to identify, create and/or implement processes or products to assist in support. * Infrastructure design skills, incorporating security and service considerations * Ability to guide to an appropriate level of operational acceptance tests * Collaborate with the development and application support teams to understand infrastructure requirements. * Work closely with colleagues and support teams as an SME to share knowledge and provide training * An enthusiasm for learning new technologies and skills * Experience of Enterprise Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Virtualization * Storage technologies (NetApp / EqualLogic / Pure / iSCSI / NFS) * Scripting Language experience for example with Python and Powershell * Enterprise monitoring, alerting and logging tools (ELK, Splunk) * Strong knowledge of cloud technologies, for example AWS and/or Azure * Knowledge of Exchange and Office 365 would be an advantage * Configuration management experience using Ansible (or other similar configuration manager) * Use of source control tools (for example GIT) * Some experience of Docker and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, ECS) * Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts and major protocols. * Experience with redundancy/high availability solutions Hours of work: * Working in a team providing cover on a rotation between 6:00am and 6:00pm with routine requirements for additional out of hour's activities. * Weekend work and late night cover is required to provide maintenance for equipment and facilities. * No overtime is payable.
