Overview
Job Description
Role: Junior HR BP Location: Notting Hill, London The OVO Group's mission is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach zero, we need everyone to come together. Not as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal. The climate crisis is humanity's greatest challenge and the OVO Group organisations are all working together to lower our collective carbon emissions to zero. Would you be interested in joining us to help achieve this? Where in the world of OVO will I be working? Kaluza is OVO Group's technology platform ecosystem that is driving the transition to a zero carbon grid. Its software platforms enable energy suppliers to empower their customers with unique digital experiences and smart, low carbon technologies that not only reduce energy bills, but lay the foundations for a more flexible energy system. Streaming real-time data from customers to the grid, Kaluza creates new visibility into household energy enabling retailers to innovate new offerings and augment their operations. Connecting to industry-leading hardware, Kaluza optimises car charging, home heating and energy storage so that devices consume energy when it is less carbon intensive and costly, benefiting customers, suppliers and the grid. The OVO Group's mission is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach zero, we need everyone to come together. Not as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal. Find out more here. What will I be doing? We've recently brought together different teams from across OVO to form the new Kaluza company, and put in place a diverse leadership team. This change brings a unique set of challenges from a people and culture perspective, and you'll be instrumental in engaging teams and managers through this transition. You'll also participate in the roll out of new policies and processes, all whilst making sure that none of the day to day people admin falls through the gaps. This is a great opportunity to learn from an extended People function across OVO, but also have the autonomy and impact of a small start-up approach within Kaluza. On a typical day, you could expect to: * Manage employee life cycle changes in Workday, such as team transfers and pay increases * Have one on one coaching conversations with managers or their team members * Organise a fun social activity to get the company connecting, depending on the calendar * Onboard and welcome new employees * Handle ad hoc manager questions about people processes such as performance management or absence. * Run reports on employee trends to be included in the board deck * Find an opportunity to improve existing People processes and policies, communicating these and making sure they are updated on our intranet * Catch up with your People team counterparts in the wider OVO Group to make sure we're staying in sync on any broad initiatives This isn't an exhaustive list of everything you'll be doing, but should give you an idea of some of the more repetitive tasks. Is this job for me? * You inspire trust through your thoughtful, empathetic and honest communication style. * You commit. When you say you'll do something, you can always be depended on to get it done. You take the initiative and own it from idea to evaluation. * You're a lists person. (Or a diary person.) Or however you organise it, you pride yourself on your meticulous planning and staying on top of it all. * You believe in helping others to help themselves. You don't just say yes to every request: you know how to dig into problems and find the best answers, and you know when to help people find the answer for themselves. * You've previously worked in a progressive People team, and ideally have worked on your CIPD qualification. If this has been in a product or technology driven environment, even better! * You're curious about HR best practice and the latest changes to employment law. You stay up to date with the key topics and can explain these to others. * You're comfortable with manipulating data in spreadsheets or HR systems, so auditing for inconsistencies wouldn't faze you. Diverse teams are the best teams We're keen to meet people with varied backgrounds: the more inclusive we are the better our work will be. We want to build a team which represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, and we decide employment on the basis of merit and potential. We understand some people may not apply to jobs unless they tick every box. If you're excited about joining us and think you have much of what we're looking for, even if you're not 100% sure... we'd love to hear from you.
