Role summary: Manages, coaches and oversees the performance and development of a team of associates that focuses on developing solutions that source, structure, curate and visualize investment management data to enable business operations, insights and advanced analysis. Also responsible for modeling complex problems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistics, algorithm, and data mining. Primary responsibilities/essential functions: * Manages partnerships with senior business leaders, business functions and IT to develop and promote an investment-management data strategy * Actively engages with key stakeholders to developed detailed understanding of business processes, data needs and data gaps * Provides strategic recommendations and makes decisions as appropriate on data sourcing, integration and delivery requirements incorporating knowledge of best practices * Drives alignment of data strategy across areas and key projects * Ensures appropriate resourcing availability to support data strategy projects and initiatives * Manages prioritization of data requirements across business units and operational workflow of team, escalating issues to senior managers as appropriate * Leads data innovation efforts * Provides thought leadership in the evaluation of emerging technologies and it's applications to investment management data needs, leveraging subject matter expertise of business functions * Drives the execution and delivery of technology evaluations and implementation efforts, partnering with business units and IT * Leads efforts and projects aimed at designing and building of complex, business-developed, technical solutions in support of data delivery, data enablement, automation or self-service * Provides leadership in developing solutions that source, transform, enrich, validate and load investment management data, leverages the analytics workbench capabilities in place (e.g. Alteryx, R, Python, SQL) * Drives innovative solutions for complex data delivery requirements, complex reporting and/or data visualization solutions in partnership with IT or other business units * Demonstrates broad knowledge of advanced data analytics and applicability of techniques to improve complex business processes and drive insights from investment management data * Leads and manages functions and initiatives within the Data Strategy & Operations team * Develops a team which leverages industry best practices, technical skills and business expertise to strategically utilize technology in solving investment management data needs * Manages a team of senior analysts, analysts and associates, including performance and development of each team member * Plans, prioritizes, delegates and coordinates strategic projects * Establishes and ensures completion of team goals and objectives to support the IM Data Strategy Skills/Qualifications: * Graduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field * Demonstrates ability to quickly understand new concepts, processes and technology tools * Demonstrates initiative in identifying and influencing adoption of alternative approaches and process to improve and optimize data integration, delivery and scalability * Advanced knowledge and skill of translating unstructured business problems into clearly defined requirements framework * Expertise in statistical modeling, optimization algorithms, advanced analytics/data mining and application to business processes * Expertise with technical and functional designs for databases, ETL, data warehousing and reporting * Expertise with SQL * Expertise with scripting for automation and statistical analysis tools such as R, Python, Alteryx, SAS, Matlab, etc * Expertise with reporting/data visualization tools such as Tableau, SSRS * Advanced knowledge of big data tools and capabilities (e.g. Hadoop, etc) * Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to express technical and business concepts to various functional teams * Demonstrates ability to lead and manage large projects across multiple te
