We are looking for someone who has experience building analytics platform with multiple sources of data, someone that can leverage modern tools and programming languages to extract intelligence out of the data. Someone who can recommend short, mid and long term analytic strategy. If you love taking ownership and are looking to implement best practice, keep on reading. This will be the first Data Engineer in the company, and therefore we will rely on your expertise for anything that falls within your remit. We put the customer (external and internal) first in everything we do, and we need talent like yours in order to understand how their experience is throughout the various touch points. We will be looking to you to apply data intelligence best practices to be able to understand and forecast behaviour and trends. We are moving from producing several ad-hoc reports based on SQL queries to building an analytics platform. It will be based on a data warehouse in Google Cloud Platform and with Looker on top to provide the equivalent to a report as a service kind of functionalities. Responsibilities: * You will own our data/analytics approach throughout all the functions of the company * Using your communications skills, you will be the translator between business, IT, engineering, data and analytics * Working with the senior Data Analyst and his team of 3, to understand the current workflows and pain points. * Assist the data team to move towards a Business Intelligence driven approach * Maintain and enhance various ETL pipelines that feed into the data warehouse * Maintain and enhance the business model that feeds in the report as a service platform (Looker) * Own data modelling, data migration and data architecture * You will pro-actively implement solutions to understand better how internal and external users perform * Work closely with the Engineering Director to apply the strategy and with the engineering team and wider customer facing teams to help them understand user's behaviours * You'll work with the Finance team to help them build their forecast model and the with Heads of Departments to give them a detailed understanding of the business performance and help them to reconcile users behaviour throughout all touch points * Be curious about trends in the data industry, and able to apply new methodologies when relevant * Using your communications skills, you will present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders Requirements Candidate Profile: * You love what you do, are inherently curious, willing to learn and develop constantly * You have experience using Looker and have a wealth of experience in dealing with data warehouses ideally Google Big Query and Big Query Machine Learning and in refining raw heterogenous data * You have experience with data analytics best practices and common algorithm as well as anomaly detection, behaviour modelling and payment related analytics * You have a clear understanding of how predictive analytics can be leveraged in business processes and will use this to influence, drive and implement the data engineering strategy * You can show evidence of successful completion of real world data science project (from the start all the way to deployment and maintenance) * You are an SQL expert and ideally also have had exposure to Python * It would be an added bonus if you have had exposure with AI and machine learning driven approaches * Whilst not a must, previous experience or passion for the utility industry or renewable energy industry would be a plus Benefits Whats in it for you? * Competitive salary * Pension matching as part of auto-enrolment * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays with an extra day for your birthday! * Ongoing training and development * Cycle to work * Season Ticket Loan * An opportunity to work in a fast-changing changing industry for a leading disruptor in the field who is changing the face of the energy industry * Work in leafy Chiswick, with free breakfast, monthly drinks and a stunning new office space
