Job Description

As a Tax Manager with Hines, you will support the Transactions and the Tax Compliance and Risk functions. The European Tax Department ("ETD") is based in London and part of Hines' Worldwide Tax Department headquartered in Houston. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders from across the Hines business including local country teams, London and Luxembourg based fund teams and with external tax and legal advisors. The successful candidate will support and work closely with the ETD Director and Senior Managers as well as be mentored by the experienced ETD team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: + Assistance with tax structuring and tax due diligence on projects throughout Europe + Tax review of financial investment models and maintenance of these models for tax changes + Drafting of tax input to investment memorandums and closing memorandums + Oversight and management of the tax compliance process which is outsourced to third party providers + Implementation and maintenance of tax risk policies and procedures + Maintenance of transfer pricing documentation and policies + Supporting Hines Luxembourg in relation to the maintenance of financing structures + Project management of tax audits as they arise in collaboration with local teams and tax advisers + Supporting the maintenance of ETD files + Dealing with ad hoc tax queries Minimum Requirements include: + Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution + One or more years' post qualification experience + ACA/CTA or equivalent + Real Estate or M&A experience advantageous, but not essential + Strong tax technical skills + Excellent numerical and analytical skills + Strong project management skills + Self-motivated, committed, goal-oriented and willing to take on new challenges + Ability to identify key tax issues and risks, analyse impact and propose solutions + Ability to communicate confidently with the business, and to articulate complex matters in a straightforward and understandable way Hines is a privately owned global real estate investment firm founded in 1957 with a presence in 219 cities in 23 countries.
