Requisition/Vacancy No.: 212864BR Job Category: Planning Job Summary: Are you an ambitious and self-driven Regional Director Transport Planner/Modeller to manage and grow our regional modelling team into a centre of excellence for modelling? We have an exciting role in our established Transport Planning and Modelling team, based in Birmingham. As Head of the Transport Modelling Team, you will play a leadership role in the operation and business affairs in the region to ensure our clients deliver transport projects on time and budget. You will play a key role in the wider AECOM modelling community across UK and Ireland, involved in projects across Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa (EMIA). The Team Our Transport Planning and Modelling team has delivered some of the most high-profile projects in the West Midlands and across the UK, so your projects and clients will be varied and interesting. Examples of our current projects and clients include: Highways England Midlands Regional Traffic Model Highways England and Walsall MBC M6 J10 Transport Model Wolverhampton City East Gateway Phases 1, 2 and 3 Transport Model Wolverhampton City Centre Model Highways England Road Investment Strategy 2 (RIS2) schemes The Role As a Regional Director, you will lead the management and growth of a Transport Modelling Team in Birmingham. You will provide technical and professional mentoring and supervisory support to the team. You will liaise closely with colleagues across the wider Transportation business, closely liaising with the Global Design Centre in Bangalore, and making a major contribution to the strategic development of the team and business planning to influence the wider Transportation offer in Birmingham and across the UK and Ireland. You will manage a range of small, medium and large-scale modelling and related projects as the Project Manager or Project Director in accordance with guidance for transportation and highways schemes. You will prepare transport models in accordance with client requirements and technical best practice and manage the preparation of technical and client reports. You will be expected to effectively communicate project and operationally critical issues in a timely manner to Directors and Clients to deliver projects within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations. Moreover, you will support business development and major bidding activity - leading the writing and submission of project proposals including the preparation of fee proposals including consideration of resources and programme. You will be expected to assist the Market Lead for Transport Planning and take a lead role for business development activities related to Transport Planning and Strategic and Microsimulation Modelling to understand clients' current and ongoing needs and to maximise work from existing and potential new clients within and outside our organization. Finally, you will assist AECOM raise visibility of its modelling and wider transport planning capabilities and support strategic recruitment activities to enable team growth. Minimum Requirements: Required skills and experience * An analytical mind and background and broad understanding of current transportation trends and issues. * Knowledge and experience in the preparation and management of multi-modal transport modelling and forecasting and experience in appraisal and evaluation of transport proposals. * Extensive experience and detailed knowledge of strategic modelling and simulation software packages, including one or more of the following - SATURN, VISUM, CUBE, DIADEM, EMME, PCMOVA, VISSIM, PARAMICS, AIMSUN, DYNAMEQ, VISWALK, LEGION and spreadsheet modelling. * Business development experience including experience of developing client relationships and successful work winning activity. Knowledge and an appreciation of current UK transport sector with an emphasis on the Midlands. * Experience of the technical governance requirements of local and central government clients and will have the abi
