Overview

General • Being involved in the definition, implementation and delivery of engineering work packages. • Checking and approval of mechanical design packages • Delivering assigned work packages that meet company, legal, regulatory and business requirements • Implementing appropriate functional engineering reviews to discharge Design Authority obligations and engaging Design experts to advise and guide the development of engineering solutions. • Coaching and mentoring mechanical designers (as required) • Serving as point of liaison between external design organisations and mechanical suppliers for project and task deliverables. Resource forecasting, demand, assignment and deployment: • Supporting the Head of Engineer in effective design strategies and plans • Generating periodic forecasts of mechanical engineering resource needs • Coordinating the deployment of design resources in line with agreed resource strategies • Identifying appropriate design and engineering standards and practices to be used for Projects. Cost & schedule: • Leading the development of the mechanical engineering elements of Project baseline (scope, schedule and budget). • Establishing and maintaining control of the mechanical engineering baseline via change control process. • Monitoring, reviewing and reporting on mechanical engineering status Supply Chain Acquisition: • Serve as Intelligent Customer for the specification and acquisition of bought-in mechanical engineering services. Supply Chain delivery: • Inputting to and reviewing work packaging, tender selection, and tender submissions for procurement of mechanical engineering services. • Specifying, overseeing and reviewing mechanical engineering work performed by supply chain contractors.
