GMIN Ventures Guyana Inc. is seeking a skilled Field Mechanical Engineer to join our team for the Oko West gold mine project in Guyana. This position is focused on the mechanical systems for the process plant and associated buildings such as warehouses, truck shops, and other industrial facilities. The ideal candidate will begin with detailed mechanical engineering design and will later transition to on-site work to ensure proper execution of construction in alignment with the mechanical design.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably focused on process plants or large-scale industrial projects.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including piping, HVAC, pumps, and other heavy equipment.
Experience in both engineering design and field supervision.
Proficiency in mechanical design software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
Ability to work in a remote, site-based environment under challenging conditions.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Willingness to relocate to the Oko West mine site for extended periods during the construction phase.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with gold mining or process plant projects is an asset.Familiarity with mechanical systems in industrial or mining operations.
Previous experience working in remote or challenging environments.
Additional Information:
2-year contract for the engineering and construction period, with the possibility of a permanent position once the mine is in operation.Fly-in/Fly-out position once construction starts

Key Responsibilities:
1. Mechanical Engineering and Design:Develop and prepare detailed mechanical engineering plans for the process plant, including conveyors, pumps, piping systems, compressors, and other related mechanical systems.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, structural) to ensure mechanical designs are integrated into overall project plans.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and local mechanical engineering codes.
Specify mechanical equipment and materials, working closely with procurement teams to source necessary components.
2. Pre-Construction Coordination:
Work closely with project management and construction teams to ensure mechanical designs are practical and feasible for implementation on-site.
Provide input on construction schedules, resource allocation, and material availability for mechanical systems.
Participate in the review and approval of technical documents such as mechanical system specifications, installation procedures, and quality control plans.
3. Site-Based Construction Supervision:
Transition to on-site work at the Oko West mine site to oversee the installation of mechanical systems for the process plant and other industrial buildings.
Ensure that all mechanical installations align with detailed engineering plans, specifications, and safety standards.
Coordinate with site teams, contractors, and subcontractors to manage day-to-day mechanical construction tasks, including quality checks, material inspections, and issue resolution.
Monitor progress, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and implement design changes as needed based on site conditions.
Conduct field inspections and tests to ensure the mechanical integrity and operational efficiency of installed systems.
4. Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare detailed reports on mechanical engineering progress, technical issues, and resolutions.
Maintain accurate records of design changes, field modifications, and construction updates.
Provide regular updates to project management on the mechanical aspects of the engineering and construction activities.
5. Health & Safety:
Adhere to and enforce G Mining’s safety standards, promoting a strong safety culture on-site.
Ensure all mechanical construction activities comply with local and international safety regulations.
