Field Metrology Engineer – circa £36,000 DOE pension car allowance – Bristol, UK The Role Due to rapid expansion, we are recruiting a Field Metrology Engineer to help support our growing portfolio of precision measurement projects. We are a growing company having doubled in size in the last two years, a rate which is set to continue. As such, we are looking for a candidate that has the ambition and proactive approach to help support the business through this exciting phase. The Field Metrology Engineer will take a leading role in a range of technical metrology projects. This will include significant client facing work at customer sites across the UK. The work will be conducted in a range of advance manufacturing environments including metrology laboratories and manufacturing facilities in the aerospace and automotive sectors. This is a demanding but exciting role for the appropriately skilled person. The key accountabilities of a Field Metrology Engineer include, but are not limited to: Leading all measurement service activities from planning to execution Being responsible for detailed measurement data analysis to provide customers with the required actionable information Liaising and reporting directly with customers to explain results and ensure 100% customer satisfaction The Field Metrology Engineer will predominantly use Laser Trackers and Portable Arms combined with either SpatialAnalyzer or PolyWorks software. The Company We focus on the development and implementation of metrology systems into high value manufacturing processes. We work across a range of industries including energy, automotive, medical and aerospace. Our team consists of metrology and manufacturing experts who each bring specialist knowledge across the fields of design for manufacture, metrology and automation. The Person The successful candidate will have a degree or HND/HNC in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, although candidates with lower academic qualifications combined with at least 3 years or relevant experience using metrology systems will also be considered. The key qualities of a Field Metrology Engineer include: A highly motivated, proactive individual with excellent problem-solving skills Strong organisation and planning skills, able to manage their time and ensure consistent delivery without micro-management from others Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, able to deliver technical presentations and lead technical meetings and discussions with clients Hands-on expertise and significant experience with the following tools is essential: Laser Trackers – 3DoF and 6DoF Portable Measurement Arms SpatialAnalyser and/or PolyWorks software Working with CAD and 3D coordinate systems IT literacy and presentation skills Other desirable skills and expertise include the use of photogrammetry systems; knowledge of repeatability and reproducibility trials; and compiling measurement uncertainty budgets. A full driving license will be essential, as regular weekly national travel is to be expected.
