Job Reference - J1032 Job Title :- Test Engineer - Battery Test Location :- Bedfordshire Type : Permanent Salary : Negotiable, depending on previous experience Job Summary Our Client has a newly formed battery test team reporting into the clients Propulsion division. The successful applicant will be responsible for test cycle and operating condition definition and support in line with all customer requirements, including issue diagnostics and resolution ensuring high quality and timely reporting to the customer. Contributing to deliver a complete HV battery test service to all industry clients. Qualifications • Degree in Electrical / Electronic or software Engineering (2:1 and above or equivalent) (preferred) Skills • Ability to create and analyse simple electrical/electronic schematics. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computer based file structures • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills • Strong organisational, analytical and problem solving skills • Ability to create and analyse simple electrical/electronic schematics Experience • Minimum of relevant HND or a large breadth of relevant work experience in an automotive engineering laboratory, automotive repair, heavy truck repair or electronics • Must be able to show relevant experience in developing basic but robust software, ideally in a test environment. This could for example be Matlab/Simulink, or java programming • Experience in root cause analysis e.g. 8D or similar • Experienced in technical report writing • Good understanding of CAN, dbc files and tools like CANalyzer or CANape • Understanding of Lithium-ion Batteries (preferably Automotive) • Experience of Lithium-ion Battery testing (Durability and Abuse) (preferred) • Knowledge of Industry automotive Battery testing standards (e.g. Reg100, UN38.3, SAE J2380/2464) (preferred) • Use of electrical/electronic simulation tools (e.g. SPICE) (preferred) Role Responsibilities • Provides Engineering support for Clients HV Battery Testing technology and operation • Defines Test Cycles and Operating conditions based on all Customer requirements/specification (Durability and Abuse) • Provides comprehensive issue diagnostics and resolution to all Test activities. This may require working on live high voltage (up to 1,000V) battery systems - but training on this will be provided • Ensures high quality and timely Test results reporting to the Customer • Actively involved in any forensic investigation into DUT or Facility failures, understanding root cause and putting measures in place to prevent reoccurrence • Applies Continuous Improvement techniques in all activities to ensure ever improving Facilities, processes and Test method • Own Test and Operational derived Risk Assessment • Undertake analysis of results, including statements of conformity or opinions and interpretation • To report, review and provide authorisation of results • Ensures safe Operating Procedures are in place for all HV Battery related activities • Ensures safe operation of DUT at all time • Act in accordance with the behaviors for Client staff at all times Personal Behaviors • Willingness to learn • Interest in Li-ion batteries • Methodical • Ability to come up with creative (but safe) solutions to problems • Highly motivated Team player • Good and inclusive communication skills • Represents highest company standards • Customer focussed Physical Requirements • The successful candidate is required to have manual handling experience of a load approx. 25kg, activities will include bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity Other • Contribute to the Process definition, setup and commissioning stage of the Battery Test Facilities • Flexibility to travel as and when required • Full UK driving licence • SC clearance or ability to achieve this (UK national with residency in the UK for the last 5 years) • Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check Other information: Working Environment: Office/Lab Travel Required: Travel as required within the UK and mainland Europe Benefits:Numerous, including 33 days holiday (inc of bank holidays), Pension, etc. This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89884294
