Job Title :- Test Technician Battery Test Location :- Bedfordshire Type : Permanent Salary : Negotiable, depending on previous experience Job Summary Our Client has a newly formed battery test team reporting into the clients Propulsion division. A key position within the newly formed Battery Test team reporting into the clients Propulsion division. The position will be responsible for operating the Battery Test Facility to provide a Durability testing service to our clients. This service extends to round the clock cover to ensure a continuous operation and minimum prove out duration for the DUT. Responsibilities will include operation, basic setup and diagnostics including day to day maintenance of the Battery Test Cells. Qualifications HND in Engineering or equivalent preferred or large breadth of work experience in an automotive engineering laboratory, automotive repair, heavy truck repair or electronics Skills Aware of Electrical automotive High Voltage (to 1000V DC) connectivity techniques Able to complete Mechanical assembly and fabrication Able to complete Electrical wiring assemblies (preferred) Ability to read and understand simple electrical schematics Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computer based file structures Experience Lithium Ion Batteries (preferably Automotive) Lithium Ion Battery testing (Durability and Abuse) (preferred) Powertrain testing (preferred) Some basic software skills would be an advantage (e.g. matlab/Simulink) (preferred). An understanding of CAN, dbc files and tools like Canalyser or CANape would be an advantage (preferred) Role Responsibilities Operates Clients Battery Testing Facilities Provides HV Battery preparation and strip service for Customers Day to day maintenance and housekeeping of Facilities Provides basic level of Facility breakdown diagnostics and resolution Able to complete basic Test Automation Setup and Configuration Action and follow Test and Operational derived Risk Assessments Undertake analysis of results, including statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations To report, review and provide authorisation of results Ensures safe Operating Procedures are in place for all HV Battery related activity Ensures safe operation of DUT at all times Shift working Rolling week Act in accordance with the behaviours for Client staff at all times Personal Behaviors Willingness to learn Interest in Li-ion batteries Methodical Highly motivated Team player Good and inclusive communication skills Represents highest company standards Customer focused Physical Requirements The successful candidate is required to have manual handling experience of a load approx. 25kg, activities will include bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity Other Contribute to the Build, Process definition, setup and commissioning stage of the Battery Test Facilities Flexibility to travel as and when required Full UK driving licence SC clearance or ability to achieve this (UK national with residency in the UK for the last 5 years) Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK without the need of sponsorship.
