Childcare Lawyer
Overview
A childcare locum position has become available in a London Borough, with an immediate start date. We are interviewing candidates on a first come, first serve basis, so we encourage that all those who are interested, apply as soon as possible, in order to avoid disappointment. More about this role: You will assist in the delivery of an excellent in-house team, working within the law and democracy service. Your work will specialise in childcare, within the safeguarding and communities’ team. The role: You will be required to effectively complete the following tasks; Deliver a high quality, sustainable legal service that complies with the statutory framework and meets the Council’s statutory and contractual obligations Occasionally advise and attend Committees and sub-committees, members and Chief Officers and frequently advise the Departments, both in meetings and in writing, in relation to the Law in matters specifically relating to the work of the section Prepare and process all legal documents, including pleadings and reports, relevant to the work of the Council Present cases before courts and Tribunals where the post holder has a right of audience on all matters in relation to the work of the Council Devise and implement new methods, forms and procedures as required by new legislation, revised council policy or generally including the review of changes imposed in relation to specific services Determine the effect of new legislation and advise specifically on the impact of new legislation on the delivery of the council’s services or functions To work with Senior Lawyers and Lawyers to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to the delivery of services Criteria Solicitor/Barrister of FILEx with current practising certificate or eligibility to apply for a practising certificate Foreign Qualified Lawyer with 3 years’ PQE Essential experience At least 2 years of experience of working in the field of law in relation to vulnerable children and adults, including mental health, child protection and families with no recourse to public funds Local government experience Experience of managing own caseload Due to the high number of applicants for this role, if you do not hear back from us regarding this locum opportunity within seven days then you have not been shortlisted for this vacancy.
