LAW Absolute are currently recruiting on an exclusive basis to a permanent Childcare Lawyer position with an innovative and highly regarded local authority based in South London. The successful candidate will be able to work up to 2 days from home in this role. About the position Childcare Lawyers within the local authority are expected to undertake the following duties: • Provide advice, representation and undertake research relating to childcare matters, including; public law care proceedings, adoption, child protection and fostering • Carry a caseload of matters in proceedings and pre – proceedings • Advocacy in the relevant courts, including contested hearing • Brief counsel as appropriate for more complex cases • Attend and advise at legal planning meetings The successful candidate will be required to pick up a busy caseload from the outset and should have relevant public childcare experience. Our client will consider less experienced individuals with the right personal qualities and an excellent approach to client care who are able to grow into the role. Local authority experience would be advantageous but not essential. The role will be based in our clients open plan London office. The local authority operates a hot desking system. About you The successful Childcare Lawyer will not only have previous public childcare experience but will also be ambitious, driven by delivering a high quality service and be able to work under pressure. It is important for the client that candidates are committed to this area of law and have a genuine enthusiasm for their work. The ability to work to tight deadlines is essential, as is the willingness to undertake advocacy. Please note our advertisements use PQE/salary levels purely as a guide.
