Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Specifications and Artwork Technologist to join a leading Food manufacturer, on a 9 month fixed term contract, at their site based in Liverpool. The company is an established house hold name within their sector of the Food industry. Responsibilities of this role are: To provide accurate technical specifications to customers and departments within the organisation. To remain up-to-date with UK, EC and other legislation relating to products manufactured by the company. To ensure Raw material specifications are available. To manage customer requests and ensure good quality communication following specification requests. As a secondary development, artwork generation and checking will be part of this role. Working with NPD to allocate item codes and establish Bills of Material on an MRP system. To calculate ingredient lists from recipes and to ensure that they are legal and that labelling. To assist in the collection of raw material data for selected sites. To calculate nutritional information and ensure that it complies with legal requirements and declared information. To prepare Product and Ingredient Specifications for issue to customers and for use by other departments, and to liaise with the sites Technical Manager to ensure accuracy of information. To complete customers format specifications and maintain records of such. To ensure that packaging material and design meets all legal requirements, whether design is in-house or customers own label, and to advise Sales and customers of any required changes. To inspect packaging proofs and advise of any changes required. To maintain and update recipe information, so as to ensure accuracy of Works orders and MRP. To determine bar coding applicable to packaging as required. To compile Health and Safety information and incorporate this into Product Specifications. To maintain UK legislation information. To scrutinise export recipes and packaging to confirm that it is in accordance with the appropriate legislation and to advise the international / export team on any issues. To actively promote and comply with all employment policies and procedures of the Company. To actively participate in training and development as needs are identified. To carry out other duties as required by the Technical Services Manager Specifications of the candidate are: Ability to demonstrate previous experience and knowledge of the food industry, products, and UK/EC food legislation. A good all-round educational standard, preferably with a HND/BTEC in a food-related subject. Possess good interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Be 'Customer Focused' and have the ability and confidence to deal with difficult situations in a tactful and diplomatic manner, thus maintaining the professional image of the Company. A meticulous attention to detail. Previous experience of writing/compiling Food Technical Specifications in a number of customer format An understanding of raw materials and their specifications. Computer literate, with excellent IT skills and experience of Data Management. Flexible attitude to work, and the ability to travel between sites as and when required. Ability to plan, manage and prioritise workload, in order to meet customer specified deadlines. Hold a clean driving licence. - not essential but preferable. Salary: £25,000 Full Time Equivilant Contract: 9 months Hours: Monday - Thursday 9am - 5pm, Friday 9am - 4pm Benefits: 25 days holiday, enhanced pension, Life Assurance, Free on-site parking, Cycle to Work Scheme, Subsidised canteen facility.
