Overview

PROJECT MANAGER - WOODSMITH Are you a Project Manager looking for a new role? Have you previously led a team in a large project or operational environment? Would you like to be a part of the construction of the UK's first major deep mine in 40 years? CSG Talent is partnered with Sirius Minerals as they look for a Project Manager to work within their Project Development team. Sirius Minerals is constructing a state-of-the-art underground mine to enable the extraction of Polyhalite - a unique multi-nutrient fertilizer - along with the necessary infrastructure both above and below ground that will be required for transport, processing and distribution. This exciting and innovative project is entering the next phase of development having recently been bought by Anglo American, a move which secures its future. The project has created a vast amount of jobs in the region and they are looking to recruit for a range of positions as the project moves forward. Reporting to the Project Director, you'll have overall responsibility for specified projects at the company's Woodsmith Mine site, near Whitby. As Project Manager at Sirius Minerals you will be expected to develop, plan, monitor and challenge programmes of work, schedules and costs to ensure the safe delivery of overall project goals. You will also be expected to: Deliver outcomes for the assigned project(s) in terms of safety, time, cost and quality Challenge, support and assist contractors to ensure that they are successful in delivering their scopes of work Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction planning, access, and logistics for assigned projects to ensure that construction is safely planned and arranged in advance of target dates Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner Measure project performance and implement necessary improvements and change effectively and in a controlled manner Ensure that the criteria specified in contracts are met during construction Ensure that works comply with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals and standards, as well as safety and quality requirements Provide regular project updates to the Project Director Immediately rectify or stop any unsafe work or operations Intervene when personnel are failing to discharge their health and safety responsibilities, and encourage good behaviour and practice Skills and experience Qualified in mining, civil engineering, project management or a similar applicable discipline Evidence of leading teams in a large project or operational environment, ideally with mining and/or large material handling experience Evidence of underground, tunnelling and/or shaft sinking experience Theoretical and practical project and contract management knowledge A hands-on approach, able to work well under pressure and prioritise workload to meet project needs Flexible, adaptable and collaborative approach, willing to engage across the project and Company Strong written and oral communication skills Enthusiasm in the working environment and a "can do" approach in all endeavours Desire to learn and be mentored A full UK driving licence is required for this role as well as also sharing Sirius Minerals' values and determination to reach the company's goals quickly, efficiently and with the highest safety standards.
