Overview

An exciting opportunity for a mid-senior tax litigation lawyer has arisen at a global City firm that has active plans to further develop this area of practice. The tax team is an integral part of the firm's global practice and acts for a diverse range of clients in the corporate and financial arena such as multinational corporates, financial institutions and private equity houses along with clients within a wide range of sectors, including high technology, media, telecoms, energy, mining, oil and gas, chemicals, construction, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. As an increasing part of the firm's tax work is contentious in nature, the firm is looking to build up this skillset to complement their existing tax offering. The role will involve advising on a contentious basis on technical areas within VAT and indirect tax, transfer pricing and corporation tax and includes assisting clients on audits, enquiries and investigations as well as managing cases (instructing Counsel, developing the case strategy, undertaking disclosure exercises, preparing witness statements, drafting pleadings, assisting with ADR mediation and advising a client on Tribunal and appeal hearings). This is a team with ambitious growth plans, so this is a role that will allow you to develop your skills and progress your career and provide input in the overall strategy of the practice whilst being actively involved in business development. Successful candidates will be a solicitor, barrister or tax advisor with tax dispute experience gained from a leading international law firm or large accountancy practice.
