Overview

Systems Design & Integration Engineer required to work as part of a small team that is providing system design and integration of complex automotive powertrain systems and energy storage devices. You ’ ll also Identify product high level requirements and derive detailed system level requirements and design specifications. Identify interfaces between systems/subsystems and ensure parts are properly integrated (mechanical, thermal, electrical, electronic) with each other and the vehicle. Using simulation and analytical methods, develop an understanding of the system operations and failures to aid in the subsystem and component design process. Support the validation of the implemented systems and assist in issue investigations and resolutions. Systems Design & Integration Engineer Role: Develop in-depth understanding of powertrain system interactions with each other, with the vehicle systems and with the driver. Identify high level system requirements from a range of sources. Understand the inherent design trade-offs and arbitrate between different system owners. Develop and maintain the system level design architecture over the lifecycle of each project. Identify and control all interfaces between systems. Derive detailed subsystem requirements to meet the customer and legal requirements. Support the development of design specifications for systems/subsystems to ensure that the design meets the requirements Using simulation and analysis, validate the system operation and failures. Support the validation of the implemented systems and assist in issue investigations and resolutions. Support the development of system engineering processes and tools within the department Mentor junior members of the team in UK and China Role based in UK with core team. Occasional travel to other sites, on development trips and to visit suppliers is a requirement. Systems Design & Integration Engineer Requirements: Bachelor ’ s degree or above with honours in a relevant scientific field with certain years post graduate industrial experience in engineering product development. Good literacy skills – able to write clear documentation and explain conceptual ideas to others. Proven ability to work as part of a cross-functional team. Demonstrate good understanding of systems and software engineering development processes – e.g. AutoSPICE. Experience of system validation using simulation tools (e.g. MIL/HIL) and test benches. Good understanding of vehicle network architectures (CAN). Self-motivated to succeed and develop new methods of working. Deliver to demanding deadlines. Desirable: Knowledge of hybrid powertrains and architectures. Knowledge of AutoSPICE development processes. Experience of developing software for safety critical systems according to ISO26262. Experience in using software calibration tools e.g. INCA, CANape. Full UK driving license.
