Overview
Cordant People are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a MIG/TIG welder for a leading UK manufacturer of sheet metal products, required for welding thin sheet metal. Welding experience is preferred as applicants will be asked to attend a weld test which must be completed to a high standard. Ideally you will be an experienced MIG/TIG welder who is able to fabricate and weld from complex engineering drawings. What your job will involve Be willing to work as part of a highly skilled team. Previous experience of MIG welding thin gauge steel and stainless steel TIG welding is essential. Aluminium TIG welding experience would be desirable. Able to work in a safe manner and adhere to safety directives. Reporting any health and safety matters including accidents to the production manager. Able to finish items with tools such as a grinder or orbital sander to a high standard. Carry out regular inspections to ensure that the qualities of all manufactured components are to the acceptable standards. You will have a sound understanding of engineering drawings and be fully conversant with all processes regarding sheet metal fabrication and welding. Working in a fast paced environment were efficiency and quality are key. Have a keen eye for quality and able to work with the quality team to ensure a "right first time" approach. A recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship would be desirable. Previous welding qualifications would be an advantage.
