To assist the senior kitchen team with their daily responsibilities and to maintain the high standards of cleanliness required to run our kitchen. About Koshary Kitchen: We are a unique independent Egyptian restaurant that serves Egyptian fusion food. All food is prepared fresh, on-site. We are a highly ranked place to eat in London and are looking to climb higher with our opening at Boxpark. Job Description General Duties: Prepare all the food for service e.g. chop vegetables, cut meat, prepare sauces etc. Follow recipes and prep lists accurately. Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff or independently if necessary. Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, and hot to serve - in high quality and in a timely fashion. Follow the “clean as you go” method. Wash utensils, pots, pans and crockery generated throughout the day when required. Keep all food preparation areas, staff area, kitchen stairs and corridor tidy and organised at all times. Assist in unloading and unpacking food and equipment deliveries if required. Follow hygiene guidelines when using kitchen equipment and appliances. Ensure they are kept in good condition and report any faults to senior management immediately. Compliance: Follow the first-in, first-out food rotation system. Ensure food products are properly dated and organised for quality assurance. Follow safe food handling and safe cooking practices. Follow guidelines when handling cleaning chemicals. Ensure that daily cleaning and temperature control checklists are completed accurately throughout the team. Communication: We expect a friendly and service minded mindset at all times. Smile to the customers and act professionally even if they aren’t satisfied. Always communicate with respect. Conduct yourself in a professional manner when dealing with colleagues, customers, and associates. Use the company back-office system to write shift reports. Other Duties & Responsibilities: Follow any reasonable requests made by the management team for other cleaning duties required. Complete all necessary external and in house training programs. Keep a good record of attendance and timekeeping. Use the company back-office system to clock in and to confirm the staff rota. Conduct all other reasonable duties as determined by senior staff in respect of ensuring the safe and efficient fulfilment of company goals and objectives. Requirements - Proof of right to work in the UK and National Insurance number. - UK bank account. - To be able to converse in English. Qualifications - Food Safety Certificate - Culinary training - COSHH training - HACCP training Previous Experience - 1-2 years in a similar role - Experience working in a fast paced restaurant Skills - Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures. - Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks. Personal Qualities - To have good attention to detail. - Honest and reliable. - A team player; willing to take on extra jobs to balance the team workload, maintain good relationships and communication throughout the team. - Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure.
