Overview
Due to an increase in orders and ever-expanding manufacturing plans, GPS are recruiting for Technical & Planning Assistants on behalf of a market leading business who are growing into new areas and are in a position to offer development/progression. We have 2 opportunities working on separate projects: Assisting to set up a new production facility. This position will then develop and be involved with the production planning and supply chain duties for this facility. Working within a current production facility supporting the production manager and be involved in the Continuous Improvement program. Key responsibilities (but not limited to): Assisting in specific project work including the development of a new production line Working with internal teams to ensure projects delivered on time Working with external supplies to obtain quotes for works Carrying out H&S checks in order to issue work permits Assisting in planning production and delivery schedules Producing stock picking lists and delivery notes Dealing with customer queries and delivery discrepancies Handle incoming/outgoing phone calls and e-mails from suppliers and an established customer base Background and Experience: A degree in supply chain management or business studies and / or experience of supply chain and project management is highly advantageous. Experience or knowledge of Lean and 5S. A manufacturing background or interest in working in manufacturing. Willing to undertake a wide range of tasks and multi-task. Able to build and nurture long term relationships with suppliers and customers. Negotiating skills. Ability to speak to a range of different people. Proactive and hardworking, committed to the role. Willing to learn product knowledge and skill through training. Confident. A "can do" attitude, embracing change. Working hours: Monday to Thursday 8.30 to 5.00, Friday 8.30 to 3.30 The positions come with a strong salary and great development opportunities.
