Gas Heating Inspector – Public Sector Housing Local Authority Client SW London based (use of own vehicle) 3 – 6 Month £26.00 per hour The Client is looking for an experienced and ACS / Gas Safe accredited Gas Heating Inspector who will be r esponsible for inspection of the operations of communal cold water booster pumps, extractor fan units, and the installation of new domestic heating systems. Observing health and safety issues within the pump rooms and extractor fan plant rooms, reporting any faults to the contractor to be rectified. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Visiting communal booster and extractor fan plant rooms to carrying out inspection surveys. To ensures that contractors are maintaining the mechanical plant in order to provide a continual quality of service to its users. Carrying out Invoice inspections to new boiler installations/ work carried out on communal boiler systems/ cold water boosted systems/ extract systems and flue duct systems as well as post invoice inspections. Ensures that the correct materials are used as per job specification, and keeping inline with the budget of the contract. Also makes sure that the relevant certificates are supplied for each boiler installation. Liaises with the contractors, tenants and council staff directly via email, phone calls or in person on matters that may arise. Gives technical advice on how to overcome issues. Arranges appointments for the contractor to attend site and remedy faults. Carries out pre inspection visits to the residents property. Carries out heat loss calculations, assists in resolving continual heating problems and recommends adaptions for residents with disabilities. Arranges for the necessary works to be carried out by the contractor Carries out Health and Safety risk assessment surveys in the booster/ extractor fan plant rooms and communal boiler-houses where health and safety risk assessments are carried out, noting anything faulty and having them rectified by the contractor. Assists the Heating Engineers on capital projects. Provide cover during Heating Engineers absences for carrying out clerk of work duties and ensuring health and safety is monitored. Implements the council’s policies and procedures including ensuring that the Council’s procurement rules are strictly adhered to. Carrying out invoice inspection checks, manage any variations to the orders, job quotations, and deal with credit notes. Verify that the correct parts are being used and cost per item match the schedule of rates in the contract. Check disputed invoices for correct corrected works and/or credits, before signing for payment. Ensure that costs are kept within the budget for each project. Responsible for the mechanical plant in communal boiler-houses, the extractor fan units and the cold water booster pumps. Do regular inspection of the sites for maintenance and health and safety purposes. Ensure the continuous safe running and supply of service to Council residents. Responsible for emergency situations where a communal heating system, cold water booster pumps, extractor fans have stopped working or a pipe bursts. , Immediately manages these sometimes having to work out of hours to get the problem resolved. Accountable for referrals from the area team or the tenant where adaptions to the heating system are requested due to disability. Arranges for the fitting of devices to control hot water temperatures and scalding from heating equipment as per statutory requirements for the care of the elderly, young and disabled residents. Attend off borough properties as and when required. Makes appropriate use of communication and information technology systems, to accurately record and store data in accordance with data protection requirements and the Council policies and procedures. This is also to include ensuring the housing and document management systems are kept up to date.
