Due to unprecedented growth, a leading care provider based in London has an opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join their team as SLT Manager. Provision of high-quality community residential and supported living services for adults requiring specialist learning disability and mental health support is this providers passion. Each of their services provide support and rehabilitation on a one-to-one basis. You will work as part of a supportive team, focusing on outcomes through a person-centred approach; for everyone here, it is about being ambitious about what people can achieve. As the Speech & Language Therapy Manager, you will be responsible for the management of the SLT service, delivery of effective, evidence-based speech and language therapy across all services including training others in identifying, assessing and managing dysphagia. You will need to hold a recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent qualification, be a registered member of RCSLT, and member of HCPC with a license to practice. You must also be dysphagia trained, and have strong leadership and management qualities. Experience of working with adults in the Learning Disabilities and Mental Health sector is essential. Your main duties will include: - Overseeing, and developing, the provision of an evidence-based SLT service in collaboration with multi-disciplinary clinical teams. - Managing, supervising and improving the SLT team, ensuring optimum delivery of SLT services. - Promoting SLT within the organisation, to external stake-holders and any individuals involved in support of clients. - Contributing to the high standards of person-centred care provided, utilising specialist SLT skills to effectively assess, treat and provide on-going evaluation and support to an identified caseload of complex clients. - Supporting the SLT team in delivering training programmes to MDT in order to ensure competency in working with clients who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties. - Managing and prioritising a complex SLT caseload of adult clients with communication and swallowing difficulties arising from learning disabilities and/or mental health difficulties. - Providing specialist assessment for clients with complex communication needs. - Establishing robust communication networks with other health care professionals and external agencies to support clients' treatment plans and ensure continuity of support for clients. - Attending assessments for new admissions where there is a clear communication need in order to facilitate assessment and potential transition.
