HR Advisor/Project Manager 6 month Contract Part time - 3 days (21 hours) About UKCISA The UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) has worked for over 50 years to support international students and the institutions, students' unions and organisations who work closely with them. As well as giving advice direct to students, we support our members by providing training, up-to-date guidance about immigration rules and information about the wider student experience. By working collaboratively with our members we are able to raise areas of concern with government departments and raise awareness of the benefits that international students bring to the UK in the wider media. We're a small organisation of 20 staff based in London, but have nearly 500 members. Our membership includes every university in the UK, many FE colleges, independent schools and students' unions. Being able to empower our staff is essential to the services we provide to our members and the HR Advisor will play a crucial role in enabling us to do this consistently across the organisation. This is a stand-alone role and integral to the delivery of change management and generalist HR services at UKCISA. Duties include: Oversee a range of HR projects, policy updates and Change Management processes Provide advice and guidance in relation to employment law matters Manage review of staff handbook and its HR policies Oversee the 2020 learning and development programme, booking training providers and communicating with staff to enable them to request and sign up for courses Manage communication for all generalist HR queries Create templates, forms and filing systems Undertake other HR and administrative duties as required This is mainly a project based role with some operational responsibility. Knowledge and skills required: Essential Criteria - CIPD qualified to Associate member level (level 5) - Extensive knowledge of employment law - Experience within HR advisory and/or project management roles - Experience of data management, analysis and presentation - Experience of managing change and implementing updates to policies and procedures - A high level of competence using Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel - Confidence in liaising with and advising stakeholders at all levels across the organisation - Role models UKCISA values, policies and behaviours - Highly organised and efficient, with the ability to anticipate needs and prioritise tasks and coordinate projects and meet deadlines - Ability to work with discretion and maintain confidentiality Desirable Criteria - CIPD qualified to level 7 - A formal project management qualification - Experience of working for a membership organisation - Interest in the Higher Education sector - Experience of working within an organisation which has under 20 employees - Experience of working with trade unions Please apply with covering letter and CV.
