The Princess Grace Hospital has 127 registered beds, including 90 inpatient, 21 day case, 8 endoscopy, an urgent care unit and a Level 3 intensive care unit containing 9 beds, with 24-hour consultant cover and a high dependency unit. The hospital also has a several specialised centres, including; The London Breast Institute, recognised as one of the best private breast screening and diagnostic treatment centres in the UK; the London Digestive Centre, a highly specialised outpatient facility offering diagnoses and treatments for all conditions of the stomach, small and large intestines, liver, pancreas, and bile ducts; and The Institute of Sport Exercise and Health, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to sport and exercise medicine. Our Orthopaedic and Spinal ward has 23 beds, 16 staff and our Nurse/Patient Ratio is 4:1. Types of operations are total knee, hip and shoulder replacements, other shoulder operations, foot and ankle surgeries, peripheral nerve injuries surgeries, stable spinal surgeries, all amputations, elbow replacements, ppatients with MRSA, ppatients with non-orthopedics conditions e.g. diabetes, DVT, colostomies, ppatients on vacuum therapy, arthroscopies, ligament repair/reconstruction surgeries, orthopaedic trauma, plastics The Sister / Charge Nurse will be working on the Orthopaedic ward, you will be able to provide clinical management and leadership to all staff working in the department, to ensure the delivery of high standard of nursing care at all times, ensure all members of the multidisciplinary team work collaboratively to assess and meet the individual needs of the patient. This is a full-time role working 37.5hrs per week on internal rotation to work long days, nights and weekends. This role offers competitive salary and includes a shift enhancement of 9% salary will be dependent upon skills and experience. Duties and Responsibilities To demonstrate good clinical practice and knowledge at all times and to be accountable for own actions Effectively prioritising workloads and directing staff accordingly Make efficient use of available resources with regard to budgetary constraints and business objectives Regularly deputise for Ward/Floor Manager, providing management and leadership in her absence Promote team working to maximise effectiveness of service delivery Assess, plan and evaluate care, based on individual patient and family needs Evaluate the work of the team and ensure standards are met Assist in audit and quality assessment procedures Continually seek to develop clinical skills and delivery of care to meet service users’ expectations Assisting with the devising, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of clinical competencies for all levels of staff Skills and Experience Registered Nurse Level 1 NMC Registration and PREP requirements ENB 998 or equivalent mentoring and assessing qualification Previous experience at Junior Sister/Charge Nurse level Recent relevant post registration experience in orthopaedic setting Phlebotomy training desirable Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures Health and Safety training Lifting and Handling At HCA UK we recognise and value everyone as unique and individual; treat people with kindness and compassion; act with absolute honesty, integrity, and fairness and trust and treat one another as valued members of the HCA UK family.
