Head Of Research / Central London / Twelve-month contract role Your new company The municipal governing body for the City Of London is looking to recruit a Head Of Research to oversee the research programme combining internal analysis with the commissioning and publication of research from external experts, spanning topics across the range of the City's interests, ranging from national and global trends affecting the City, London and the UK as world-leading in financial and professional services, through to local communities, skills, and infrastructure. Your new role The Head Of Research will be responsible for; Manage the programme of work carried out by the Research team, proactively ensuring that research projects and outputs are delivered on time to a high standard and meet their objectives. Ensure that the research undertaken internally and commissioned externally is designed and carried out to a high standard to ensure robust, useful, and timely outcomes. Have responsibility for quality control of outputs, ensuring work is consistently rigorous, accurate and well-written; work closely with the Marketing team to ensure high quality design and production. Ensure that the programme delivers maximum impact, reaching and informing the right audiences. Have responsibility for the line management of the Research Managers & Officers, setting short and long term individual and shared targets, developing a work plan and strategy, and managing the staff resourcing of programmes of work. Develop, implement and monitor suitable processes to ensure that projects deliver good value for money, and that contractors are strongly and effectively managed. This will also involve processes around commissioning and tendering, contract and budget management, report production, and dissemination activities. Proactively monitor and identify key current issues for the City of London, factoring these into the plan of work and strategy for the team. What you'll need to succeed My client is looking for the following skills and experience; Experience in a similar position in the past. Public-sector experience is required. A strong research background. Experience in managing and commissioning. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge and understanding of current issues around global competitiveness, financial services, and the business environment is essential. Substantial experience of carrying out and producing high quality research to publication standard, for example in a policy, business or applied academic environment. Experience of wider research processes and how they can be developed and used to ensure high quality outputs - such as tendering and contracting, and budget management. What you'll get in return This is a full-time Twelve-month contract role. The role is paying in the range of £400/day - £600/day rate. This role is inside IR35.
