Are you an experienced IT Application Specialist looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the South West's leading employers as an Application Specialist to join our team. This role can be based from Exeter or Taunton. What will you be doing? The Application Specialist's role is to ensure the availability, serviceability and security of critical applications, interfaces and databases enabling important business processes. This includes receiving, prioritising, incident, release and/or change requests, escalating incidents when considered appropriate and necessary to maintain service level expectations. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require you give face to face support. You will plan and undertake upgrades to critical platforms and support the transition of new and upgraded IT services into operational use. You will also maintain a knowledge and skill level appropriate to this specialist area. What do you need? Extensive and broad-based IT and business experience, delivering diverse corporate IT services in a medium / large organisation Familiarity of ITIL and PRINCE2 project governance or equivalent Experience with relevant operating systems, software and infrastructure, including Microsoft Server, Azure and AIX Experienced in Database Administration for SQL Server and Oracle Experience administering corporate application environments, instances, platforms and configurations Adept at presenting complex information in straight forward terms to a range of audiences What can South West Water do for you?
