Overview
Firefly are currently recruiting a Group Accountant role at a private equity backed business within the energy sector in Central London. This will be an exciting/fast paced role, taking accountability for the group’s consolidation. The right person will most likely be from a large audit firm and be fully ACA qualified. You could be ACCA, but you’ll need to be experienced in preparation of stat accounts and consolidation. Key responsibilities: Reporting to include: Consolidated financial statements of the group and its subsidiaries. Lead the preparation of Group consolidated statutory results and notes compliance with IFRS. Coordinate the audit of the Group’s consolidated financial statements. Ensuring distributions from subsidiaries are accounted for correctly and booked in a timely manner and in accordance with local laws and regulations. Preparation of accounting treatment papers for the group including acquisitions, disposals (including fair value analysis) and other transactions which may require technical accounting papers. Preparation and reporting on any hedge or swap accounting in the Group. Other Group reporting as required. Accounting records in respect of group holding companies: Liaising with overseas agents to ensure complete records are maintained, tax returns filed, management information presented to Board, delegations of authorities maintained, cashflow forecasts prepared and controls maintained. Monthly procedures/control work: Review and challenge on monthly trial balances across the Group. Consolidated Balance sheet preparation and reconciliation / resolution of any intercompany or consolidation issues. Group tax calculations. Preparation of statement of changes in equity and cashflow. Skills: Qualified accountant status (ACCA/ACMA/ACA), ACA preferred. Appropriate experience in an accounting / consolidating / reporting role. Financial consolidation systems experience, including change management.
