Overview
This is a wonderful opportunity to make a positive difference to people’s lives. As a Support Worker you will provide support to people with differing needs and with all aspects of their lives. Your day will be varied including helping people with the practical aspects of their lives, such as helping them to shop, prepare meals, wash themselves, clean their home, understand their money and take their medication. As a Support Worker you will enable the individuals you support to have an active social life, helping them to make friends and maintain friendships and to access and enjoy leisure activities. As a Support Worker you will be helping each person to live their life in a way that makes sense to them, to exercise independent choice and control, to learn new skills and to develop their independence. About us Camphill Village Trust is an award-winning national charity supporting people with learning and other disabilities. We provide housing, care, support and day opportunities to people with learning and other difficulties. We support people to be safe, healthy, happy and to be active citizens living a life of opportunity. Our Watford community is based in Watford town centre, close to all the amenities that this vibrant city has to offer. The community supports approximately 40 people. What we provide Our hourly rate of pay is £9.36. Contractual salary based on 37.5 hrs per week is £18,252, but typical annual earnings with 1 sleep in a week, and 20 hours of overtime each month is approximately £24,137 . Additional hours are often available.,, We provide a full induction and free training. We will support you to obtain the Care Certificate when you first join us and to obtain further professional qualifications later if you want to do so. What is important to us is that you share our values, have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn . You will be good at both listening to and talking with people. You will have a positive and patient approach to supporting people with daily activities and enjoy helping people learn and explore new things. You will be working on a rota which is normally fixed four weeks in advance. This will involve shifts that include working both daytime, evenings and some weekends as well as bank holidays. You will be doing sleep-ins on some nights. Part-time working may be available - please enquire. A full UK manual driving licence will be beneficial, as you will be driving the charity’s vehicles. We will undertake checks of successful candidates before starting work, which will include an Enhanced DBS check.
