We seek to improve all technology services whilst supporting the wider business on its own transformation requirements and ensuring IT aligns to their needs. We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to operate within our Southampton based MCA team. Infrastructure engineers support and maintain infrastructure solutions and services as directed and according to departmental policy. They work in a team of infrastructure specialists and engineers making sure infrastructure services are delivered to the business, whilst liaising with third party suppliers as the need arises. This role provides you with an excellent opportunity to influence key IT functions at the MCA, helping to shape and build an environment that makes a real difference for the UK public. Roles Responsibilities include and not limited to: Monitor and control core business infrastructure solutions and services. Execute and monitor day-to-day routine tasks related to the operation of infrastructure components and applications. This includes job scheduling, backup and restore activities, print and output management, and routine maintenance. Supports, designs and implements infrastructure technologies and solutions, that underpin core business services, such as: compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open source packages and solutions, virtual and cloud including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. Working with colleagues and third party teams, identifies and leads technical problems through to resolution. Ensures the access and security controls are maintained to align with relevant policies and laws. Working with colleagues and third party teams to resolve incidents and return the service to users as quickly as possible. You will operate to a normal weekday working pattern consisting of a 7.4 hour working day and over the course of a year you will work 1931 net conditioned hours. You will sometimes be required to occasionally work outside of normal conditioned hours, and to work/travel on official duty within the UK and short-term visits overseas. About You Enjoys a varied and busy workload and can handle multiple projects and deadlines. Has a track record of producing work that is of high quality. You will also have demonstrable experience in, and be proficient in the following areas: Proven and meaningful Infrastructure systems knowledge, including performing administrative tasks. · Experience using Windows infrastructure - taking care of support, maintenance and upgrades. · Experience within a Networking infrastructure - taking care of support, maintenance and upgrades. · Experience of implementing standard methodology - especially around scalability, availability and performance. Experience of test-driven development alongside the use of automated test frameworks. · Experience of project working - Agile, Lean and Waterfall methodologies. Experience of working in an environment where products have to be delivered to specific time-scales. An ability to rapidly and effectively understand and translate product and business requirements into technical solutions. Knowledge of supporting one or more ofthe following technologies: Windows Server, Azure Cloud, Enterprise Avaya telephony or CCNA networking.
