Job Title: Support Worker Job Setting: Linford Grange / Linford Homecare / The Stratfords Hours: Full time 37.5hours Location: Milton Keynes Whatever your background, whether you are experienced in your field or seeking to start a career within care, we’d love to hear from you. You'll be instrumental in helping our Service Users to live full, happy and healthy lives, by delivering front-line care, support and companionship. We’re passionate about providing 5 care to our service users. Purpose of Position: To share with other staff at Cinnabar Support & Living in meeting the personal care and social needs of clients in a way that values the dignity of service users and promotes respect, choice, independence and participation. Care provided by support workers at Linford Grange and The Stratfords is expected to include care that would reasonably be given by members of the service users own family and is not expected to include tasks that would normally be expected to be undertaken by trained nurses. About you Our ideal support worker will have the following skills and values: · Caring nature. · Strong communication skills. · Ability to work as part of a team and individually. · Flexibility and be able to adapt to the needs of Service users · Hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a car. This role involves Homecare calls. Training will be provided to candidates with the right attitude and passion for the role. As a Support Worker, you will be expected to: · Actively support individuals with all daily support needs, including medical, social, and education-related appointments and routines. Ensure that their homes/living spaces are well maintained. Ensure respect, dignity and independence is promoted at all times. · Actively contribute to and promote the welfare of the individuals we support in all areas of their daily life and lifestyle, including preparing meals and supporting them with access in the community, shopping, and planning weekly activities. · To conduct all procedures within the home with due regard to the food hygiene and health and safety legislation. · To value each client as an individual. To promote their dignity self-esteem, independence, choice, respect and individual human rights. · To take delegated responsibilities in the charge of the service users under your care, to the appropriate level. · Assist service users who require personal care. · To assist service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities including the use and care of aids and personal equipment. · To care for clients who may have terminal illness. · To administer medication if necessary and/or deemed appropriate. Only to be done after the support worker has completed a medication training course. · To help in the promotion of physical and emotional stimulus for individual service users through positive interaction, affording them the opportunity to access the community and promoting activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations. · To communicate effectively with clients using methods of communicating that they choose, and which promotes their uniqueness and individuality. · Monitor the needs of the service users, informing a senior member of staff on duty of any emergency situation or concern about their well-being. · Encourage mental and physical activities for service users, talking to them, taking them out and sharing with then in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations. · Make and change beds, tidy rooms, do light cleaning and empty commodes. · Inspect, mend and launder residents’ clothes where necessary. · Maintain all service users records and give written reports, whilst ensuring confidentiality · Attend and participate in regular formal supervision and appraisal sessions. · Be aware of and adhere to Cinnabar Support and Living’s policies and procedures. · Work within all Policies, Procedures and Guidelines provided by the company, including accurate record-keeping, confidentiality and GDPR. · To adhere to the services smoking policy, dress code, policy of use on mobile telephones, and code of conduct and policy and drugs and alcohol. · At all times be aware of the security of service users and staff safety, In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed; the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by the manager from time to time. Cinnabar Support & Living offer a 24-hour care service, shift options to include nights are covered, whilst availability and preferred hours can be discussed, care needs are our priority.
