Junior Specifications Technologist - £25,000 pa - £28,000 pa Benefits The Company A privately owned food business has created a brand-new position for a Junior Specifications Technologist to join a dynamic Technical team. The business has been established for over 30 years and supply into major grocery chains, foodservice and food manufacturing businesses. The Role Days Monday to Friday The Junior Specifications Technologist will be responsible for: creating, writing and maintaining specifications and assisting in the artwork process. The role will entail working closely with a number of stakeholders regarding product specifications, keeping specifications up-to-date by inputting data into databases, developing product Specifications for sign-off, liaise with customers regarding technical specs, log into internal and external online Technical portals to maintain Specifications, liaise with raw material suppliers. There will also be an opportunity to get involved as a member of New Product Development teams, working with customers and internally to compile recipe lists and raw material specs. The jobholder will develop a good working knowledge of food legislation and food labelling and be able to compose accurate and legal ingredient declarations. There will be a requirement to ensure that product specifications and labels comply with legislation, guidance and customer codes of practice. The Junior Specifications Technologist will be expected to develop an understanding of pack copy and artwork and be able to review packaging and copy to ensure information is accurate and legal. The Person We are keen to hear from individuals with a HND/Degree in a Food related discipline, combined to a minimum 6 months experience working in a Food and Drink business. This could be a Food Supplier, Food Wholesaler, Foodservice Operator or Food Manufacturer. Applicants should have some exposure to working with Specification Systems and Online Technical Portals, although full training will be provided.
