About DWS: The Pearson Digital Workplace Services [DWS] team is simplifying how Pearson employees work, engage and collaborate using a broad range of technology, initiatives and transformation activities introducing new, globally consistent platforms and services primarily based on Microsoft products: with Office 365 (replacing Google G-Suite) being a key delivery over the next 18 months. You will use your proven track record of cultivating professional relationships across key stakeholders and be working tirelessly with our directors, global business units, technology, engineering and security teams to distill and deliver Pearson’s requirements and be responsible for demand management, commercial and cost portfolio leading Pearson to adapt to changing and emerging technologies for and impacting our business. You will lead the delivery management for all DWS projects, BAU and continual change being critical to our operations. You have a creative approach to devising strategies, governance and enhancements, are the key to managing meeting business and security demands. As a key member of our team, you bring your proven history of managing strong relationships with our internal key stakeholders and partners to have insight to future changes, demand, commercials direction. Role purpose: As part of the Platforms Team you will be tasked to build and manage the delivery function as an interface into our Information Technology operating units, business demand management and internal DWS organisation. The role encompasses a strategic view for Platforms cost and commercial aspects of the portfolio and be the gatekeeper into the wider InfoTech organisation. Governing and tracking the multitude of Pearson’s strategic deliveries that include existing and future delivery across the global business that DWS are a stakeholder or prime delivery partner. Key responsibilities As a direct report to the DWS Platforms Director within the Digital Workplace Services group, the candidate will be responsible for: Management of the DWS evergreen rolling and strategic programmes / project dependency mapping for our product groups and programme teams (myWorkplace, Metro/myOffice, SEC, MS EA and BAU – Win10 and O365 Security and linkage to Collaboration change roadmaps) Prioritising Change backlog and ensuring programme level focus on deliverables, cost and business commitments Strong background in managing high performance people, culture and stakeholders across Pearson Financial controls and management for the Platforms group going through significant change; programme mode to BAU run state for our technology platform changes Agile and Lean practices.: You know about and can lead on a range of Agile and Lean tools and techniques, with an ability to coach within and outside of your team. You can represent and be an advocate for these tools and techniques. You are innovative and ensure that you are up-to-date with the latest trends. You can establish a feedback loop for teams; you can take responsibility for the translation and measurement of value (what you put in and what you will get out) and ensure this relates to practical Pearson objectives and the user needs. You can ensure the team has a situational awareness of work and priorities across the team. You can ensure that working practices are iterated to achieve effective delivery. Commercial management: You can support effective budget management within the constraints of the project. You know how to monitor projected budgets against expenditure.
