About the role Ecorys has a long track record of providing policy, research and evaluation work to local, national and international organisations in the public, private and civil society sectors. Our international portfolio of monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) work has been growing and diversifying in recent years. Our policy, research and evaluation work covers a wide range of international development sectors including early childhood development, education, employment and labour markets, economic development, health and healthcare, equity and social inclusion, gender and migration and development finance. The principal purpose of the bid consultant role offers you the opportunity to work closely with and in support of senior managers involved in Business Development (BD) activities in the Policy and Research team. This post will work with Ecorys colleagues, partner organisations, subcontractors and associates to develop Ecorys’ portfolio of international evaluation work and contribute to work-winning by identifying new opportunities and coordinating the preparation of medium and larger tenders. This role offers an experienced bid consultant or coordinator the opportunity to build and develop their skills on international commercial opportunities and contracts with a high profile within the Ecorys business. There may also be the opportunity to use your organisational skills to provide project management support to the delivery of Ecorys’ international monitoring and evaluation contracts. Role responsibilities & requirements You must be educated to degree level in a relevant subject or have recent professional experience within a consultancy or research environment, dealing with tenders/bids/proposals led by the DFID/FCO/World Bank and other UK based international funders, INGOs and international governments. It is essential that you demonstrate strong commercial awareness and business acumen to be credible in identifying new opportunities for the company, particularly those with a policy, research or evaluation focus. In addition, it is important that as a bid consultant you are able to understand the client’s technical and administrative requirements for a range of tender opportunities, proposals, RfQ’s, Expressions of Interest (EOI) and Pre-Qualification Questionnaires PQQs) and you are able to engage in early market engagement exercises. Demonstrable experience of effective project management is critical to the success of the bid consultant role to meet strict deadlines, under pressure. You will be responsible for updating trackers and internal systems with details of new opportunities and utilising these for business development meetings, sharing information and collaborating with parallel research and delivery teams.
