Overview
This well-established engineering company is part of a multinational group continuing to grow and expand within their varied marketplace. The company works on a multitude of bespoke engineering projects to meet their client needs. They are looking for a Junior CAD Technician in their new engineering design office in Wigan, North-West. This is a great opportunity to obtain engineering design experience and progress your career. The role will offer the chance to work on interesting and existing projects. Advance technically in this position through in-house training to make you better. The CAD Technician will work closely with the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer and the wider engineering team, and be involved in both 2D and 3D CAD work liaising with internal departments, customers and suppliers. Primarily office based, however, the role is likely to require some travel in the UK and abroad, conducting site surveys and attending meetings with clients and/ or sub-contractors etc. The person will have knowledge of one or more CAD packages with a good understanding of technical drawings and be able to work to mechanical engineering principles. Duties: - Producing equipment outline drawings and layouts for customers - Producing detailed fabrication, installation and AS-Built drawings - Producing 3D models from 2D standard parts - Ensure all drawings are completed on time and checked thoroughly before issuing - Answering technical questions to external customers/suppliers when required - Systematically maintain engineering records and archives. - Converting model files into a different format according to customer requirement - Site surveying occasionally required to take measurements - Liaising with customer and site engineers - Liaison with external suppliers regarding the specifications. - Ensuring the corporate standard for CAD modelling and draughting is followed by adherence. - Improve and maintain the corporate standard for CAD modelling and draughting. - Completed Request For Product Change Requirements: - Willingness and ability to learn - Ability to use Solid Edge (or Autodesk Inventor, Solid Works) - Ability to make 2D drawings with CAD systems - IT skills and experience using computer - Ability to use Microsoft Office package - The ability to understand and discuss technical drawings with customers as needed - HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering qualification - Ability to follow company design workflows, checklists and internal standards Good to have: - Knowledge of steel structures and sheet metal technology - FEA Analysis knowledge What they offer - Salary: £18,000 to £22,000 /year dependent on experience - 22 days holiday 8 days Bank Holiday - Pension scheme - 40hr week full-time job - Office based in Wigan (WN3) with an occasional site visit in UK and abroad - Internal Training They will only contact you within the next 14 days if you are selected for an interview.
