Overview

The feeling of supporting and empowering people with learning disabilities and autism to live a life that makes sense to them is the most heartfelt. And Seeing the difference that YOU can make is unforgettable We love what we do and are recognised as an award winning charity for our passion and dedication. Join us a part-time Support Worker (experienced or not) and you'll see why This post is 30 hours per week. About the role Our friendly and fun household in Flitwick is home to six adults (aged between 50 to 70), who all have a range of learning disabilities . We're looking for a part-time Support Worker to help assist us with a range of activities from the everyday living needs and ‘must dos’ (such as assisting with medications, supporting with attending health and medical appointments and some personal care), through to the lighter side of life doing things like becoming involved with the local community, shopping, baking, gardening and socialising with family and friends. We occasionally come across challenging behaviour in our home however, this is usually because one of our residents requires additional emotional reassurance and support but we will ensure you are fully prepared and trained to deal with these behaviours if and when they arise. You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins (2/3 times per week). Morning shift is from 7.30am to 3pm; Afternoon shift is from 2.30pm to 10pm. Who are we? We are an Award winning Charity that has the core belief that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community. We use a person centered approach to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy and to ensure each individual is able to live a life that makes sense to them. Using a Positive Behaviour Support strategy ensures we see the person first, not their disability. What we need from you Firstly, you don’t need experience to become a Support Worker but it’s not easy.
