Care & Support Workers Location: Bedford Pay rate: £8.21 - £9.00 per hour (Days & Lates) Pay rate: £9.50 - £10.50 per hour (Nights) Days: 7:30am-3:00pm Lates: 2:30pm-10:00pm Nights: 9.30pm - 7.30pm Car owner and driving licence due to locations not essential but would be an advantage. About Us Better Healthcare are one of the region's main suppliers to the some of the country's largest Care groups and require Health care assistants to work in residential/supported living services with clients with Dementia, Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities and/or Sensory Impairment of all ages. Support Worker duties include: Providing personal care Supporting with activities and appointments Support with meals Updating and maintaining records Companionship Our vision Social care is the fastest growing sector in the UK market with long term growth forecasts of 7% year on year. The number of people needing care is going to increase significantly in the years ahead. By 2030, population estimates show the number of people aged over 85 will be almost twice what it is now and there will 59,000 people aged over 100 - five times as many as there are today. With the increase in the number of people requiring care, the main challenge ahead is recruiting enough skilled and trained carers to meet these future demands. Better Healthcare have an opportunities for new and experienced care and support workers. This is an ideal opportunity for either someone seeking to start their career in care or taking the next step in your career. You will be working both in a service and providing floating support in the community. The service has 10 customers whom all have mild learning disabilities or mental health issues. In addition there are 7 further customers in the community whom Metropolitan support. You role will be focused on encouraging independence and helping customers achieve this. Metropolitan are able to provide full training to you if you have the desire and compassion to take up this role. This training will ensure you provide personalised care and support services to our customers with dignity. This role does require you to work flexibly to ensure individual needs are met while maximising independence, choice, privacy and well-being, in collaboration with the team leaders. You will be required to work on a flexible rota of either earlies, lates or a mixture of both which suits your needs, shifts can include weekends and bank holidays. The rota runs over 7 days and shifts are 7.30am-3pm or 2.30am -10pm. To be successful in the role previous experience is not essential, but we are seeking individuals that can provide a caring and supportive service to our customers with dignity. You will demonstrate you understand what good support looks like which is appropriate to the age, gender, disability, race, religion and sexuality of the customer to improve their quality of life and independence. Essential elements of this role include, but are not limited to: - - Provide assistance with the personal support needs of customers as identified in their care and support plan. - Encourage and support customers to establish and maintain positive relationships with their family and friends and engage in activities which help them to achieve their personal goals. - Provide support and practical assistance to customers with benefits, budgeting, paying bills and accessing appropriate services. - Provide social and emotional support to customers in line with policies & procedures and best practice. - Promote self-advocacy and signpost customers to advocacy services as required - Be aware of customers` wellbeing, safety and state of health, reporting any concerns. - Ensure all necessary records are accurate and up to date.
