Carer progression within the company. The Role We are providing individuals with practical and emotional care, enabling them to lead as ordinary life as they can achieve. To help them achieve this you will need to be flexible, as you are required to work shifts including bank holidays, weekends and potential sleep ins. If your best traits are positivity, friendliness and innovation then this job is for you Main duties and responsibilities: To participate in the day to day implementation of the individual’s support plans and activities within a challenging environment To maintain effective communication and liaise with the service users, families and other staff members whilst respecting appropriate confidentiality To prepare meals, do cleaning and laundry duties To maintain accurate notes and records when required To work as part of a team to provide high quality care Personal care is required. The Service Byron Court is set on a quiet street in a large Victorian style house with a beautiful garden, easily accessible by public transport. The service is registered for seven service users both male and female; service users have an array of mental health issues such as autism, anxiety, and asperser’s syndrome and learning disabilities and they are aged between 24 - 60 years. Public transport links are very good the service is around a 10-minute walk from the train station a just over 5 minutes from the town centre and local bus station. Personal care is required occasionally, but most of the time you will just need to encourage them. The service users enjoy going to the day centre, walking to and around the local parks, going shopping and to the coffee bars they enjoy going for the occasional meal out and to an occasional disco Personal Characteristics Diploma in Health and Social Care or be willing to work towards one. Experience in supporting adults with challenging behaviour, learning disabilities and/or mental health issues. The ability to keep calm under pressure. The confidence to work alone or as part of a team. Excellent communication skills The passion to work with vulnerable adults The desire and commitment to achieve high standards of safeguarding.
