We are currently recruiting for an Associate Geotechnical Engineer to provide expertise and experience in the field of geotechnical design engineering based in Daventry. Role Objectives: To take a key role in effective technical and team leadership, primarily (but not exclusively) focussed on the Daventry team. To assist in the development of Remedy Geotechnics (RGL), and to grow the size, depth and breadth of technical expertise, in line the company’s wider development aspirations. The responsibilities of the job will be as follows: Reporting to a Director the successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual who relishes building, coordinating and deploying high performance teams to solve engineering challenges in a fast-paced, construction focussed, consulting environment. Key responsibilities will include: Providing a source of geotechnical expertise and experience to the RGL team to support the winning and profitable execution of geotechnical design and consultancy services. Take responsibility for the execution of geotechnical consultancy projects within the context of controlling business risks to an acceptable level. Taking a proactive role in developing and growing existing client relationships and developing new long-term relationships (working in conjunction with the company’s marketing effort). Undertaking the preparation of Fee Proposals to win new work. To carry out and manage geotechnical projects with a high level of technical expertise and knowledge. Develop and mentor more junior engineers. Daily tasks will centre around : Primary responsibility will centre on taking responsibility for the efficient, timely and profitable delivery of geotechnical design and consultancy services, utilising the wider resources of the Remedy team, where necessary, and in line with RGLs vision and values. Identifying and managing geotechnical and business risks. Provision of a high level of geotechnical knowledge and experience to the RGL team. Pricing work and developing winning Fee Proposals. Develop individual team members to progress in their careers and reach their full potential. 6. Contributing to the wider RGL development as the industries first choice selection for geotechnical consultancy services. About the role : We are a and highly focused geotechnical design practice. As our workload and client base increases we are looking for a talented, experienced and enthusiastic Associate level geotechnical engineer to assist us in leading our development into the 2020’s. You will have the opportunity to take a lead role in developing and growing our team of geotechnical/geoenvironmental engineers in undertaking exciting and challenging projects. Job specifications Skills: A strong track record of providing detailed geotechnical design work over a range of industry sectors, and types of client (for example geotechnical contractors, developers, civil engineering contractors etc). A strong geotechnical analytical capability will be required, ideally spanning the design of piles, embedded retaining walls, earthworks (unreinforced and reinforced) and slope retention (soil nailing, ground anchoring). Some experience in pricing and winning work will be required. A proven ability to lead and develop teams will need to be demonstrated. Will probably posses A good civil engineering or engineering geology degree plus an MSc in geotechnical engineering. A strong knowledge of fundamental soil mechanics principles and a demonstrable analytical ability in geotechnical engineering design. An ability to apply engineering judgment to provide practical and pragmatic solutions. A proven track record in executing challenging geotechnical design and consultancy services. A passion for geotechnics. Experience Dependent on skills and nature of experience offered but may suit minimum of 8 years. Personal An open and collaborative working style.
