Overview

My client is an Audio-Visual Installation and Maintenance provider with customers all over the world, and projects throughout the UK and Europe. Established in 2015, the company has grown very quickly and currently has a team of 22 and growing. We have offices based in both Dorset and Central London. The team is made up of a mixture of sales, delivery, after sales and operational staff, all of whom work incredibly hard in their specific roles. The culture of the company results in a tremendous amount of team work to win projects and go on to deliver them successfully, and as regularly as possible get around as a group and celebrate their achievements Job purpose Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager and working as part of the Service team, this technical role provides exceptional proactive and reactive service works for the Company’s clients. The role is responsible for the safe and accurate onsite fault finding and servicing of a wide range of AV hardware and software solutions for our commercial clients throughout the UK. This includes Video Conferencing, Audio Systems with DSP’s, Video Distribution systems, Screens, Projectors and other such AV hardware. The Field Service Engineer undertakes preventative maintenance visits to clients under maintenance contracts and trains end users at such visits, where required. Key responsibilities Ensures a prompt, courteous and appropriate response to all client requests for assistance and support, working to defined service level agreements and within contractual timeframes. Accurately and quickly diagnoses and remedies faults with Audio-Visual systems onsite at client sites primarily based in London and throughout the UK and Europe. Diagnoses and rectifies faults to ensure that client AV systems and equipment are fully functional and that equipment and system down time are kept to a minimum whilst ensuring complete closeout of such works for the client. Provides preventative and reactive maintenance together with firmware upgrades in line with the client’s contractual requirements. Prepares off site for Planned Preventative Maintenances (PPMs) and undertakes PPM visits onsite. Produces a report for each client after every scheduled PPM visit. Uploads files to processors, touch panels and applications along with making minor programming changes. Works with audio DSPs including signal routing, processing blocks and AEC configuration. Also responsible for uploading and testing of software. Configures Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Google Meets Hardware Rooms, Starleaf, Wireless Presentation Devices, Room booking systems all onsite Conducts site surveys. Provides advice, support and training to end users as required. Proactively suggests new methods and techniques to improve efficiency. Undertakes any other reasonable duties commensurate to the scope of the role. Travels to client sites both within London and throughout the rest of the UK and Europe along with occasional overnight stays will be required. Technical competencies Essential Solid and demonstrable experience working as a Field Service/AV Engineer within the AV industry. Strong technical knowledge of AV products and systems, their maintenance requirements together with the software and hardware that comprise them. Fully conversant with DSP technology, gain structure and the requirements of sound reinforcement within the presentation environment. Programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot and remedy faults with AV systems and equipment. Knowledge of touch screen and web-based programming and control technology. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and drawings. 100v & Lz Audio system knowledge Video distribution experience inc: HDCP & EDID compatibility RS232/IR coding & cabling. Experience in cable terminations of all common types. Previous experience configuring and working with SIP/VOIP devices and excellent working knowledge of networks. Exceptional customer focus and ability to build relationships with clients to ensure they receive the highest quality service both for reactive and proactive maintenance. Ability to work autonomously and on own initiative. Possesses a strong attention to detail to ensure that work is completed thoroughly and within deadline. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Computer literate with the ability to use all Microsoft applications. Desirable Previous experience working with software such as Zoom Rooms, Teams Rooms, Star leaf or similar. Prior knowledge working with traditional Video Codecs from Polycom & Cisco. SY, Crestron, Extron, AMX control systems programming knowledge. Biamp Tesira, QSC Q-Sys, Yamaha MTX, Bose Control Space audio DSP programming knowledge. Worked with AV over IP solutions such as HDMI over IP, Dante and AVB. Able to make small changes to control systems. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and drawings. Qualifications Essential Minimum GCSE passes in Math’s and English, or equivalent. Full UK Driving License. ECS card holder Desirable IPAF, PASMA and CTS Formal AV qualification, or equivalent.
