Production Manager We have been instructed to find a Production Manager for one of our Paper Making Clients based in the South West. This is a key role for the Company as they continue to grow and develop the paper making operations. The company produces papers which are used in the drinks industry and are a market leader. The Production Manager who reports into the Operations Manager will be responsible for the manufacturing processes on PM7 and PM8. Ensuring the people, process and equipment are delivering against the company objectives, policies and targets, Main Objectives: To lead employee safety and product safety throughout the line area To achieve paper machine productivity to daily targets To ensure good paper quality with minimum waste. To attain the specified production plan for the line and meet customer delivery requirements To work closely with Technical & Engineering support to achieve the above aims. To be accountable for overall line performance as measured by budget and K.P.I.’s Selected Key Tasks: Maximise the production off PM7/8 paper machine in a safe, controlled and efficient manner, keeping detailed records of machine settings, alterations and running conditions. Line Supervisors will use these records to ensure repeatability and good communication with the crews. Work with the mill planners to ensure minimal grade changes and optimum grade runs through the process in the best efficient way Monitor the KPI and financial information to ensure the above targets are being consistently achieved at a minimum labour cost per tonne produced. Work with all crews to ensure good communication and a positive working relationship is being developed. Responsible for the Training and Development of the Line Supervisors to ensure they operate with high order communication and leadership skills. Key member of the leadership team. Provide weekend cover on an established Rota Works to measurable goals, targets and standards as set out in budgets and KPI’s Works with finishing, technical, quality and C.I. management to maintain an environment of constant improvement and development on the line. Ensures that customer complaints have RCA and CA/PA plans completed Skills Required: Thorough knowledge (both theoretical and practical) of long fibre paper production Thorough knowledge of quality, hygiene and safety systems. Knowledge of SPC techniques, RCA’s and SOP’s Verbal and written communication skills Delegation, coaching and development of supervisors. Ability to set up and monitor KPI’s and drive line performance using them.
