Overview

SF Recruitment are working with a private equity backed multi-national, product and service led business based in West Birmingham. Over the past decade, through acquisitions and organic means the business in question has had a sustained period of growth and does not expect this to stop. Our client is seeking to add a motivated and driven individual with a strong track record in technical accounting and financial reporting. This is a key role within the business, driving continuous improvement across the finance team and taking the lead in ensuring all financial regulatory, statutory and tax returns are all compliant, timely and accurate. Key Responsibilities and Duties: - Monthly Group consolidation, reconciliation and checking in the agreed format including commentary and analysis - Monthly reconciliations of funding loans and intergroup payables/receivables - Monthly reporting of Group holding companies - Preparation of Group VAT returns and review of individual business unit VAT returns - External audit process; o Group audit planning and co-ordination o Preparation of individual statutory accounts o Point of contact for Group holding companies audit o Co-ordination of year end tax packs and analysis for all trading entities - Maintaining a high level of technical accounting knowledge (FRS102) and keeping up to date with changes, ensuring accounting policies are kept in line with changes - Establish and run a size appropriate and focused internal audit program - this will require ad-hoc UK and international travel. This will include annual reviews of balance sheets and appropriate reconciliations. - Medium Term Planning annual consolidation - Maintenance of Hyperion database structure including expansion of where required - ONS and government statistics surveys, pension regulator returns and Companies House returns - Group insurance renewals and management with the Group Finance Director - Management of UK corporation tax payments and returns. - Proactive liaison with external tax advisors to ensure group remains tax compliant and is aware of future changes. - Responsibility for UK Group payroll and overall responsibility for UK payroll function through the UK Payroll Manager who is a direct report of the role. Skills required: - Strong technical accounting skills and ACA/ACCA qualification - The ideal candidate will have a high level of IT skills, specifically Excel and knowledge of Hyperion would be advantageous - Ideally a strong practice background supplemented by industry experience Personality: - A bright engaging nature with strong communication skills - A hands-on mentality, happy to work at all levels due to size of the team - Happy with a large amount of autonomy, and be able to manage their time to prioritise workloads and meet tight reporting deadlines - The candidate must possess a strong pro-active attitude to work and view the finance function as a truly added value function within a business
