Overview
We are currently retained to identify an individual to lead and develop a sizeable marine book in the UK. You will have complete autonomy to lead and grow the business across the marine market. The business is part of a larger group that has significant financial support and a solid management structure. Key Objectives of the role To develop a strategic business plan for the business to deliver profitable growth. Lead the senior management team in delivering the plan and ensuring operational excellence. Monitor performance of the business and to make sure there is effective management information available to monitor and evaluate progress. Review and identify potential markets for the business. Oversee the efficient day to day running of the business and monitor performance. Oversee the development of staff within the business and recruitment as required. Develop and implement a marketing plan to support the growth plan. Develop strategic relationships with Insurers to support the development of products and ensure the competitiveness of the business and access to products. Make sure all regulatory requirements are met in conjunction with the appropriate staff. As part of the wide group, the business utilises services provided by the parent covering accountancy, HR and Marketing and the Head of will report directly to the MD of the group. The role will be based in the South East, south of London, but travel will form a key part of the role to the head offices in London regularly. Experience & Qualities A solid background working in Insurance, preferably in a broker environment within the marine insurance market. Significant exposure in a senior management role. Good strategic thinker. Understanding of sales and marketing. Excellent communicator at all levels and able to present information in a clear and concise way. Hull and machinery, marine trades and marine liability are the key areas and therefore a technical understanding of these classes is a must.
