Overview

We are currently looking for a Data Scientist to join a leading pharmaceutical company in their drug discovery division based in the Slough, Berkshire area. As the Data Scientist you will be an essential component in harnessing Big Data from Discovery and Clinical settings to drive translational decision-making across the spectrum of New Medicines therapeutic activities KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Your duties as the Data Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows: 1. As the Data Scientist you will establish genomic data processing pipelines and analytical plans to inform target identification, validation and biomarker discovery 2. You will need a background in biologics to affect new target identification, target validation, biomarker discovery and patient stratification using omics data 3. You will advise on data science and develop approaches to utilize state of the art tools and technologies, or develop new methods where appropriate, to enable the above 4. You will need a background and a thorough understanding of statistics, data mining, and visualization of biological data types and the standard tools used in these domains. Expertise in pre-processing, integration and analysis of different omic data types (e.g. gene expression, SNP, metabolomic, epigenetic data, etc.). ROLE REQUIREMENTS: To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Data Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history: 1. A PHD or equivalent experience in a relevant scientific area, statistics, data science, biologics or similar 2. Programming skills in Python, R or similar language used in scientific programming or data science activities 3.
