Overview
Are you a highly motivated and experienced policy advisor? Do you have experience of policy development and implementation? About us ICCAN is an independent arm’s length body, sponsored by the Department for Transport. Our aim is to improve public confidence and trust in the way aviation noise is managed. We are bringing together industry, communities and the Government to ensure best practice on noise management is followed and information is shared and communicated in an accessible way. We will aim to identify any improvements needed to industry methods of assessing and mitigating noise impacts and will give communities a greater stake on aviation noise issues. ICCAN’s success measures therefore include increasing the public’s confidence in the noise data published by the aviation industry and in the impartiality of the airspace change process; and challenging industry to enhance its approach where necessary on assessing and mitigating noise impacts and engaging communities. About You We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive individual who can hit the ground running in this role. You will need to be able to forward think whilst also being able to think outside of the box to come up with new and innovative ways to deal with long standing issues. You will need to have good policy, technical, project management, presentation, report writing and communication skills, with the ability to pick up technical issues at pace and work within a multi-disciplinary team. We will look for you to have previous experience of working with stakeholders to understand their issues whilst maintaining content quality is essential with the ability to think strategically and set the agenda for others. As this is a public-facing independent body, and you must have an ability to bring together policy considerations with an understanding of commercial and implementation practicalities. You will need to have an understanding of how the Civil Service operates and enthusiasm for working to improve outcomes for the citizen. Closing date: Monday 27th April 2020.
